Year three at Hogwarts brings new dangers in the form of the soul-sucking Dementors guarding the school against escaped convict Sirius Black. Harry's faith is tested when his teachers and beloved godfather seem to want him out of the picture.
Alfonso Cuarón's standalone-feeling installment is the franchise's critical high point — moodier, more visually inventive, and the first to take the series' darkness seriously. Critics still rank it as the best Potter film, with the Dementor and time-turner sequences as standouts.
